ไมเท็กซ์ มาส์ก (Mitex MASK)

ไวรัส COVID-19 ตัวเชื้อมีขนาด 120 nm ซึ่งฟุ้งกระจายออกมาพร้อมกับน้ำลาย น้ำมูกจากการไอ จาม เป็นละอองฝอย (droplet) ที่มีขนาดประมาณ 5-10 ไมครอน การสวมหน้ากากอนามัยจึงเป็นมาตรการสำคัญ ในการป้องกันการติดเชื้อโรคทางเดินหายใจซึ่งรวมถึงไวรัส COVID-19

ไมเท็กซ์ มาส์ก (Mitex MASK) ใช้ผ้ากันไรฝุ่นที่เกิดจากทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาของมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล เป็นวัสดุตั้งต้นในการทำหน้ากาก ด้วยเหตุผลสำคัญ กล่าวคือ

1)  คุณสมบัติเดิมคือ เป็นผ้าทอแน่นด้วยเส้นด้าย microfibers ทำให้มีขนาดรูผ้า ต่ำกว่า 5 ไมครอน จึงสามารถบล๊อคละอองน้ำลาย (droplet) ที่มีขนาด 5-10 ไมครอนได้
2)  คุณสมบัติที่เพิ่มขึ้น คือด้านการสะท้อนน้ำกลับ เหมือนน้ำกลิ้งบนใบบัว โดยการนำผ้ากันไรฝุ่นไมเท็กซ์มาเคลือบสารกันน้ำที่ปลอดภัย (Non-Toxic Agent)
3)  ผ่านการทดสอบจาก
– สถาบันพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมสิ่งทอ (THTI)
– คณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล
– ศูนย์บริการและวิจัยไรฝุ่นศิริราช มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล
4)  สามารถซักได้ (Washable) มากถึง 30 ครั้ง โดยที่สารเคลือบสะท้อนน้ำยังไม่หลุดลอกหายไป

Mitex MASK ปกป้องคุณได้อย่างไรเมื่อถูก ไอ จามใส่
1)  หน้ากากมี 3 ชั้น ชั้นนอกสุด เป็นผ้ากันไรฝุ่นไมเท็กซ์เคลือบลงบนเส้นด้าย ได้ผ่านการทดสอบทางห้องปฏิบัติการแล้ว (Air Permeability Test) พบว่าอากาศซึมผ่านเข้า–ออกได้  จึงทำให้หายใจได้ขณะใช้งาน
2)  เนื้อผ้ามี Micropores คือรูผ้าขนาด 4-5 ไมครอนจึงสามารถกันละอองฝอยน้ำลาย ขนาด 5-10 ไมครอนได้
3)  ผ้าชั้นกลางและชั้นในสุดให้สัมผัสที่นุ่มสบาย โดยชั้นกลางเป็นผ้าตาข่าย และชั้นในสุดเป็นผ้ามัสลินระบายความชื้นได้ดี
4)  เป็นหน้ากากผ้าที่ออกแบบให้มีปีกผ้าแนบรับแนวสันจมูก ไม่ใช้โครงพลาสติกหรืออลูมิเนียเป็นส่วนประกอบจึงไม่มีปัญหาเวลาซัก สามารถทำความสะอาดได้ทั่วทั้งผืน

Mitex MASK made of the Anti-Mite Covers Protection against COVID-19

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has a size of 120 nm. Even though it is very small, it can cause disease in both humans and animals through the dispersal of saliva and/or mucous secretions containing COVID-19, whose size may range from 5 to 10 microns. Thus, wearing a face mask will offer protection from breathing in COVID-19 while simultaneously preventing the wearer from infecting others.

The anti-mite cover was originally designed, researched and developed by Asso. Prof. Vanna Mahakittikun to protect from inhaling the toxic residue of dust mites. This outstanding research earned Prof. Vanna the Pre-Clinical Award from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. The fabrics that were additionally coated having water repellency property used in creating the Mitex MASK offer a dual protection against COVID-19.

The Mitex MASK has 2 important properties:

  • The fabric is composed of tightly woven microfibers with a pore size of 4-5 microns which block liquid droplets between 5-10 microns.
  • Additionally, the MITEX Anti-Mite Covers are coated with a non-toxic water-proof agent, thereby rendering the fabric water repellent.

After someone coughs or sneezes within a 6 ft radius, how does the Mitex MASK protect you?

  • The mask has 3 layers. Whenever liquid comes in contact with the mask, the droplets, including COVID-19, will not be absorbed into the fabric. The water-repellency agent will not block the pores through which breathing occurs. This air permeability factor contributes to its ease of use and protective reassurance.
  • The fabric’s micropores prevent penetration by the larger sized COVID-droplets and dust particles.
  • There are another 2 layers of cotton and muslin offering an additional barrier preventing COVID-droplets form being inhaled or swallowed. Furthermore, these added levels provide a damp-free comfortable experience.

Mitex MASK has been successfully tested and approved for use by:

– The Thailand Textile Institute (THTI)
– The Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University
– The Siriraj Dust Mite Center, Mahidol University, THAILAND.

Moreover, the Mitex MASK was constructed without a metal/aluminium or plastic frame, and therefore, will not rust, which encourages frequent washings. Plus, the mask is thoroughly washable without shrinking or fading while retaining its water repellency efficacy even after at least 30 cleansings.
